We’re in the New York Times

Posted by on Jan 31 2005 | NAWW Member News

Dear NAWW,

The New York Times wrote an article today about parents who blog. While the tone is rather offensive, I believe readers will be the judge when they actually view our blog site, Dot-Moms (http://www.dot-moms.com).

You be the judge! Are we narcissists? Or do we just need a little recognition for how hard parenting can be? You can view my enties under “More from Christine”.

I know quite a few of the people who are quoted in this article. Login at the NYT is required, but it is free.

On another note: I’ve added a cool feature to my amazon page.
Pictures! If you have a moment, please stop by and take a look at the thumbnail photos. You can even vote for them, if you’d like!

My next book, SAHM I Am: Tales of a Stay-at-Home Mom in Europe,
is being released in May. Stay tuned!

Warmest blessings to you,

Member’s Book of the Week Question

Posted by on Jan 29 2005 | NAWW Member News

Hi Brenda!

Yes, your book can be featured in the weekly newsletter as a Book of the Week. The books do not have to be writing related. They DO need to be of interest to our subscribers. Lots of women writers are interested in parenting. :)

To have it considered for the Book of the Week, just send it to PO BOX 700696, San Antonio, TX 78270.

Networking Opportunity And A Recruiting Tool As Well

Posted by on Jan 29 2005 | NAWW Member News

Dear NAWW,

I love the idea of a NAWW blog; not only does it give us a networking opportunity but can be a recruiting tool as well. So I hope others will hop on board.

I have a book ms at a publisher’s right now and I’m waiting to see if it’s going to be picked up. I’m also working on another book proposal on child discipline.

Oh, here’s a question for Sheri. In the weekly e-zine where you highlight members’ books; must they be on the writing industry or could my book, Parenting Power in the Early Years, be shared as a member book on the ezine?

Posted by on Jan 29 2005 | NAWW Member News

Hello NAWW!

One of my resolutions was to try this new form of communication I’ve been hearing so much about — “blogging”. I started my own Blog and you can read it here.
http://vickimtaylor.blogspot.com/

There’s also a place for you to leave a comment if you’d like. I hope
you become a regular reader. Peace.

Book Promotion Tips: Charlene M. Proctor, Ph.D.

Posted by on Jan 28 2005 | NAWW Member News

Dear NAWW,
As I am coming down the home stretch on text production and editing for Let Your Goddess Grow! 7 Spiritual Lessons on Female Power and Positive Thinking - and- The Women’s Book of Empowerment: 323 Affirmations that Change Everyday Problems into Moments of Potential, like you, I am faced with the task of shifting from author to marketing specialist. It seems we are all responsible for promoting our work! I just realized I will spend 20% of my time writing and 80% on strategy and deployment of a plan in order to reach the greater community of readers. Frustrating? You bet. A great deal of effort must be spent on the process of disseminating the message itself.

Here is a report I read last night you might find helpful if you are in the same boat. I think the report is very straightforward, and spells out numerous tips on how to put together a basic promotion plan. We are very internet savvy at www.thegoddessnetwork.net but in this report, we realized there were many doable (and economical!) strategies we had never considered. Look for this manuel on-line and see if it will help you too:

The report is called: Book Promotion Ain’t For Sissies by Jenna Glatzer

Thanks and Goddess Blessings,

Charlene M. Proctor, Ph.D.
