NAWW Member Shares Publishing Successes

NAWW Member, Patti Lawson of Charleston, WV recently had two of her essays published. In August, Chicken Soup for the Grandmother’s Soul was released by HCI, Inc. and Patti’s essay “Timeless Legacy” about her Grandmother’s unending generosity was included. In October, Single Women of a Certain Age edited by Jane Ganahl of the San Francisco Chronicle, was released by Inner Ocean Publishing with Patti’s essay about her life changing experience after a failed romance with her adopted dog Sadie titled “A New Leash On Life.” Her book, The Dog Diet A Memoir, What My Dog Taught Me About Shedding Pounds, Licking Stress, and Getting A New Leash On Life will be released in April 2006 from HCI. NAWW Member Recognized by Writer’s Digest Magazine

Out of 18,000 entries, NAWW Member, Vernie Dale’s short story, “Chris,” was one of the top 100 recognized by Writers Digest in their 74th annual writing competition.

NAWW Member Publishes New Book

Kathleen Cleary is pleased to announce the publication of her first narrative nonfiction book, “If This Is Heaven, I Am Going to Be a Good Boy, the Tommy Leonard Story”.

Tommy was one of Boston’s most legendary bartenders and the founder of one of the world’s most beautiful road races, the Falmouth Road Race on Cape Cod, among many other accomplishments.

NAWW Member Wins Honorable Mention

My feature article, “Home, Sweet Home” about a local Habitat for Humanity project, won Honorable Mention in the Kansas Author’s Club 2005 Writing Contest. And my first children’s story, “Better Without The Dirt” about a six year old who decides to find out for himself what worms taste like, won Honorable Mention in the Kansas Author’s Club 2005 Writing Contest.
