An “Imprint” is a smaller publishing company working under the umbrella of a larger one, utilizing… their creative team, marketing expertise, publicity leads, and their distribution support. Wyatt-MacKenzie publisher Nancy Cleary has created a cutting-edge Imprint Program for entrepreneurs and writers seeking a step above self-publishing.

Learn more about the Imprint Program and an empowered way to self publish on this call with Nancy.

Topics we will cover:
- Knowledge is not only power, it is profit
- Transparency is key
- Success and security under an umbrella
- Branding…the package, the presence, the pitch, and publicity

And we’ll discuss preparing for the Imprint Program:
- Getting your manuscript ready
- Thinking about an imprint icon
- Communicating cover ideas
- Setting a publication date
- Creating a magnetic marketing plan

Nancy Cleary’s Imprint program is the synthesis of her eleven years in the publishing industry and her extraordinary self-publishing consulting, combined with unparalleled branding and marketing support for her authors. NAWW Member Event: Practice of Writing Practice with Judy Reeves

Posted by on Feb 18 2009 | NAWW Events (Central Time)

May 27, 2009
1:00 pmto2:00 pm

Practice of Writing Practice with Judy Reeves

Date: May 27th at 11 am (PST), Noon (MST, 1 pm (CST), and 2 pm (EST)

Writing practice, is both the idea of practicing something to get better at it, and having a daily practice, like yoga or meditation, as a way of centering and balancing ourselves. When we do writing practice, we honor ourselves as writers. When we practice every day, we learn to trust the pen and the process. We develop self-confidence, our writing gets better, our voice gets stronger, and all manner of stories and starts appear in our notebooks (or on our computer).

On this call Judy will teach you:

• The benefits of having a regular writing practice

• Guidelines for writing practice

• How to begin (the creation and discovery of writing prompts)

• What to do with all the practice pieces

Judy Reeves is a writer, teacher and writing practice provocateur whose books include A Writer’s Book of Days, which was named one of five “hottest books for writers” by Writers Digest magazine; Writing Alone, Writing Together; A Creative Writer’s Kit; and The Writer’s Retreat Kit (all New World Library).

Her work has appeared in the San Diego Reader, Personal Journaling magazine, A Year in Ink, McGee Park Poets Anthology, and on the spoken word compilation, First Friday CD Year 3. Two plays written with The Second Story Writers, a women’s writing ensemble, were produced by the Fritz Theatre. Her poetry chapbook is The Kind of Woman She Is.In addition to private workshops, Judy teaches creative writing at the University of California, San Diego, and at writing conferences internationally. She is Executive Director of San Diego Writers, Ink, a nonprofit literary organization.
