Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
A: I have been an IT professional for the past 13 years. My mother always told me that I could write but I didn’t realize I wanted to be a writer until about five years ago when I received some information in the mail about a writing course so I decided to take it.
Q: How and when did you make this dream a reality?
A: I wrote a self-help book on how to repair your credit without filing for bankruptcy, and it is now available in bookstores. Since getting my book published I have had several other opportunities become available.
I wrote the book three years ago and didn’t know what to do with it. I met a woman last year who wrote and published two books and she told me about the entire process of how to get a book published. I followed her advice and began the process of getting my own book published.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned so far in your writing career?
A: The most important lesson I learned is to stick with it. Don’t give up no matter what. The process of writing is slow. It is not an overnight success so if you don’t have patience it may not be the right choice for you. I thought about giving up several times because of the many roadblocks I encountered but I persevered and my hard work has definitely paid off.
Q: What are you working on right now?
A: Right now I am promoting my first book titled How to Get Out of Debt: Get an “A” Credit Rating for Free Using the System I’ve Used Successfully with Thousands of Clients, which is available online now at my website at www.hefreemanenterprises.com. I also recently released an ezine article and plan to release an ezine article once a month.
Q: Name some authors or books that have influenced your writing life in a positive way.
A: I knew some of the main ways to market your book but had no idea there were so many until I read John Kremer’s book, 1001 Ways to Market Your Books. His book gave me the encouragement I needed to fulfill my dream of being an author. He explained step-by-step many unconventional ways to market your book and increase book sales that are so easy and simple to do.
Q: What have you recently read or what are you reading right now that you would consider an outstanding work?
A: I am currently reading Boundaries: When to Say Yes, When to Say No To Take Control of Your Life, by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. I have earmarked pages and have highlights all throughout the book. You definitely have to set boundaries when writing a book so that you don’t get overwhelmed by the process. This book has definitely changed my life.
Q: What excites or ignites your soul?
A: Enjoying life, helping people get out of debt, and living my dream of being a writer excites my soul. I get great pleasure from helping people and seeing other people succeed, which inspires me to do better.
