NAWW Member Publishes Poetry Chapbook

Posted on Nov 18 2005 | NAWW Member News

NAWW member, Elaine Dallman, has a newly-published poetry chapbook, Nevadans, which is being distributed by the San Francisco nonprofit, Women in Literature. The renowned poet Mary Stewart Hammond has said this about Nevadans: “I love these poems. They possess a wry vision rich in subtle ironies and emotional generosity. The language and imagery are as real and surreal as Nevada itself, as gritty and spare as its geography, as dry and fresh as the desert air. This is the work of a true original, a genuine explorer of the physical and emotional.”

Throughout her literary career, Elaine Dallman has been active in programs that bring poets and poetry directly into the community. 185 of Dallman’s poems have been printed in a wide variety of literary anthologies. She has won 125 national and international contests, and received 16 grants and scholarships for innovative teaching, writing and publishing. She has directed workshops in which thousands of men and women enrolled, and has taught at Southern Illinois University and the University of Nevada at Reno.
