Setting intentions is a conscious way of keeping yourself from going through life on autopilot. You can set an intention each morning, before a meeting or appointment, or even before you go to bed to guide your dreams. Marcia Weider defines intention this way: “to have in mind a purpose or plan, to direct the mind, to aim.” By practicing intention setting you can change your behaviors and eventually accomplish all of your goals. Some changes can happen in a moment, like a changed mindset for an instance and other growth requires the continuous practice of intention setting.

Switch from the Big Picture to the Micro Picture Each Day-To run a successful company, you must be able to see the big picture to plan ahead and also be able to see the many parts of your business at a micro level and understand how they relate to each other because all the parts do affect each other. Hi Creators and Big Thinkers!

How are you?

Between the ”tea parties” and “tax returns” and the “swine flu”; really, how are you?

Are you taking care of yourself?

If you don’t, who will? The easiest way I know to take care of myself is to set boundaries.

Here are a few boundaries that are in place in my life that have really help me maintain my sanity and freedom to just “be”.

 

• No unscheduled appointments (this includes kid’s schools, work, or even husband)
• Scheduled self care (working out, meditating, hair, pedicures, massages)
• Limited volunteering (I chose a long time ago to spend my volunteer time with the kids instead-I am not super woman!)
• Little or no outside “News” via TV, radio, or newspaper (It is too negative)
• I only let positive friends and family into my world (Yes, I believe you “choose” your family)
• I only “do” what I have passion for. Period.
• Which means I have learned to say, “No” a lot.
• I only answer e-mail Monday - Friday a few times a day and I try not to go over an hour a day.
• Lastly, to make a lot of this happen, I have worked really hard at being an effective and caring delegator (Not only professionally but more importantly with my husband, kids, and friends… I had to learn to be less independent and more interdependent)

Welcoming Positive Change

 

This month has been a wonderful month of continuous change which I am wholeheartedly embracing. We recently hired a new consulting firm to take over our weekly online newsletters. The SMC, Inc. umbrella has grown so large that we needed to outsource this to a larger company instead of virtual assistants. Don’t worry, we will still provide input and content and are looking forward to offering you higher quality newsletters to help you reach your goals. So if you are a NAWW or GIA member, be looking for content rich newsletters again starting next week.

Which brings me to the other big change, the AWE. Last week was very exciting because I sold one of my associations (the International Association of Web Entrepreneurs)! This change fits perfectly into my life plan at the moment as I have been wanting to spend more time with the kids and write 2 more books this year. Be looking for an e-mail from the new owner and myself next week. She is very passionate about the AWE and will do an amazing job, you are in good hands.
